Quality Grade Score The Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) established the gold standard for specialty coffee grading. This system uses a 100-point scale:

Specialty (80-100): Exceptional quality, distinct attributes, minimal defects

Premium (70-79): Good quality with distinctive characteristics

Exchange (60-69): Average quality, commercial grade

Below Standard (50-59): Low quality, noticeable defects

Off Grade (<50): Very poor quality, numerous defects
